Papa Stephen Alegue married on the 30th of March 1964. He had 8 children - 5 boys and 3 girls. One boy Bartholomew Alegue died on 19 September 1999.
He started school in 1941 in Dschang and later on moved to Buea in 1944 and continued his studies in English. He struggled to finance his education and ended up doing a wide range of tasks - buying and selling nuts (Mbanga) among others to get the money he needed to pay for his education. In 1952 he passed the entrance examination into the Nigerian Police Academy in Ikeja, Lagos.
He started work in 1953 as a police constable. In 1968 he passed the Police Officer examination and was promoted Police Officer the same year. He worked as Head of Security at the Vice Presidency of Cameroon from 1968 - 1971. He worked as Commissioner of Police in Kumbo (1971 – 1972), Bamenda (1972 – 1975), Nkambe (1975 – 1979), Mamfe (1979-1981), Bafoussam (1981 – 1985) and Mbouda (1985 -1987). He went on retirement in 1987.
He obtained 5 medals during his professional career. He joined politics (SDF party) while on retirement. He was the Divisional Coordinator and Municipal Councillor of the Dschang Rural Council and was elected as an Alternate Parliamentarian of the Cameroon National Assembly.
Bartholomew Nganou Alegue was born on the 29th of March 1967. He studied at a variety of primary schools and obtained his GCE Ordinary levels at Sacred Heart College Mankon Bamenda as part of the famous "bishop's batch" - the first group of students to score a 100% success rate at the GCE ordinary level exam in Cameroon.
He graduated in 1995 with a Bachelors's degree in Business Administration from Ahmadou Bello University in Zaria, Nigeria (second largest university in Africa after the University of Cairo). He had a variety of professional adventures across Nigeria and the Republic of Niger before falling sick and returning to Cameroon where he eased off in the early hours of September 19, 1999.
